The examinations of Junior School Certificate (JSC) and its equivalent Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) have been rescheduled due to the Jamaat-e-Islami-sponsored hartal.
The JSC test for November 5 — English first paper — has been moved to November 19 and the examination of November 6 — English second paper — has been rescheduled for November 20.
Meanwhile, the JDC examinees will have to appear for their Arabic first and second papers on November 19 and 20 instead of November 5 and 6.
The examinations will begin at 10:00am, according to a press release issued by the education ministry.
The exams were rescheduled at an emergency meeting hours after Jamaat called a 24-hour hartal for Wednesday (November 5) protesting the death penalty of party leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid chaired the meeting at the education ministry this afternoon.
Jamaat called another hartal for Thursday protesting the judgement of death penalty awarded to its leader Mir Quasem Ali by International Crimes Tribunal-2 for his wartime offences.
The ministry had to reschedule the dates for the opening examinations of JSC and its equivalent Junior Dakhil Certificate JDC due to the Jamaat hartal on last Thursday.
Currently, Jamaat is observing a 72-hour hartal protesting the judgement of death penalty to Motiur Rahman Nizami for his war crimes.
